TRAIL RUNNING
We're surrounded by forest tracks. From short easy trails that weave through our valley to challenging mountain ascents and epic trail running events. Trail runners can tackle any of our walking and hiking trails. Our easiest runs tend to be on the trails close to town, with more challenging routes traversing the Alpine National Park and Mount Buffalo National Park. Trail Running is also permitted on the climbing trails at Mystic Bike Park, although entry fees apply.

BEFORE YOU RUN
Our region can get wild. Some of our most stunning trails are remote and have no mobile phone reception. The weather can change rapidly. Storms, snow, flash flooding, or bushfires may occur anytime of year. Hypothermia and exposure are common risks. Snakes call our forests home. Medical services are limited. As such, it is imperative you:
- Tell someone where you are going and when you'll be back. Avoid running alone in remote areas.
- Take a map or a GPS tracker.
- Carry adequate water, electrolytes, and food.
- Pack a warm layer.
- Pack a basic medical kit with a compression bandage and band-aids.
- Check the weather and the VIC Emergency App before heading out.
- Run within your ability. Ensure you are fit enough to tackle the distance and elevation before you run out of daylight and supplies.
In short, plan your run and you'll be set up for a good time.
