ART, MUSIC & THEATRE

Bright, and its surrounding towns of Myrtleford, Mount Beauty and Harrietville, has developed a unique culture through the blended histories that have unfolded in our fertile river valleys and rugged alpine mountains. We invite you to spend some time at our art galleries, cultural festivals and events, and get to know the people that make Bright & Surrounds what it is today.

ART GALLERIES

The Bright Art Gallery and Cultural Centre, located in Mountbatten Avenue, holds a diverse range of art exhibitions throughout the year in addition to their permanent collection. Two major annual exhibitions are the Autumn Art Exhibition and Sale and the Decorative Arts Exhibition in the Spring.

The Myrtleford Art Gallery on Standish Street showcases a brilliant collection of fine artworks, some of which include works for sale by local artists and works depicting the magical landscapes, flora and fauna of the alpine mountains and valleys.

Bright also boasts a dedicated fine art photography gallery on Gavan Street. Alpine Light Gallery showcases an ever-changing selection of award-winning prints by local couple Mieke Boynton and Matt Palmer.

LIVE MUSIC & THEATRE

There's always live music to be found in Bright & Surrounds, especially in summer when many pubs and bars host live acts each week. Check out the Alpine Hotel, Bright Brewery, Wandi Pub, Myrtleford's Buffalo Hotel and The Old Factory, Harrietville's Snowline Hotel and Mount Beauty's West Peak Hotel, to name just a few.

The Bright Court House is another popular venue for live bands, comedians and theatre troupes, while the Bright Art Gallery and Cultural Centre host a curated season of talented musicians each year through its Cafe Culture Series.

Check the venues or our What's On listings to see what's happening, including the annual Brighter Days Festival and Mount Beauty Music Festival.
