Lake Catani is an idyllic recreational area high on the Mount Buffalo Plateau, surrounded by the iconic alpine ash and snow gum forests.

During warmer months, Lake Catani is a popular destination for day visitors, hikers and campers. Explore well-marked bush walks for all levels, abundant wildlife, picnic spots aplenty, and views to take your breath away. Feeling more adventurous? Try canoeing, kayaking, cycling, rock climbing, abseiling and hang gliding.

Camping at Lake Catani

Nestled on the banks of the pristine alpine waters, the campground is perfectly located for campers to make the most of the water with a sunrise paddle or a sunset fish.

There are 59 campsites available for tents, camper trailers and mobile homes.

Need to know

  • Easily accessed from the road
  • Facilities include flushing toilets, hot showers and a covered kitchen area.
  • No designated disabled parking bays, but campsites have sufficient space to park your vehicle close to your tent.
  • Conditions can change at short notice - always check for updates with Parks Victoria before you travel.

How to book

The campground is open from from Melbourne Cup Weekend (beginning of November) to April inclusive.

Bookings are essential. Bookings open at 10am on 1 September each year and are based on a first-in, first-served basis. Entry to the Mount Buffalo National Park is free, however fees are applied to camping.
