Alpine Access can take you beyond the resorts to ride untracked lines in the backcountry. They will design a tour tailored to your ability, experience and fitness, and strive to ensure your day is everything you’ve dreamed of.

An Avalanche Safety Training (AST) 1 course is a must if you venture out of bounds, off the trails or into the backcountry. Alpine access provides Avalanche Canada AST1 training, designed for the recreational back country skier/snowboarder. You will learn to recognise avalanche terrain, reduce avalanche risk and perform companion rescue, as well as backcountry touring skills, technique and etiquette.

Go on a guided backcountry ski or snowboard day tour with an experienced guide. Tours are tailored to your group’s skills and experience. They can assist you to get together all the gear and answer any questions you have. If you’re new to backcountry touring, you will learn how to be safe in the backcountry.

If you have done Avalanche Safety Training 1 and are an advanced rider, this course is designed to refresh your skills and take them to a higher level. If you are considering doing Operational Level 1, this is an ideal pre-course refresher.

Alpine Access Australia is an accredited Avalanche Canada Avalanche Safety Training (AST) Provider. Alpine Access runs AST1 courses at Mt Hotham in July, August and September. The first day is a classroom day at Harrietville or Dinner Plain, the second day is a backcountry day out of Mt Hotham Ski Resort.
