Food & Wine Day Out at Mount Buffalo National Park

Mount Buffalo Road Mount Buffalo Victoria

A trip to the Alpine Valleys wouldn't be complete without the combination of gastonomic delights and the wonder of the National Park.

Of course a day of food, wine and nature can only be complete if started with a coffee. Local favourites Ginger Baker and Coral Lee do a cracking brew and both have a great line up of tasty treats perfect for morning tea by the Ovens River before heading up to Mount Buffalo for lunch.

Now it's time to find that perfect drop and you will be spoilt for choice in and around town with quality local wines and brews on offer. While in town, pop by Billy Button's cellar door or into the popular Bright Brewery then make your way to the base village of Porepunkah. Add to your collection and drop by Boynton's Feathertop Winery and Ringer Reef Winery - with stunning cellar doors and a vast selection of Alpine Valley wines, you'll be spoilt for choice.

Head up the hill to breathe in the alpine air and work up an appetite. Choose from any of the short walks and take in a view or two before selecting a picnic patch of choice. The big flat, warm boulders synonymous with Mount Buffalo make the perfect place for a picnic so take your pick, and enjoy your perfectly crafted hamper, full of locally produced food and wine.
